About Juliet

Juliet is a fashion label by me, Jay Manipon. It is inspired by my childhood as a military kid, growing up by the ocean in Yokosuka, Japan. After conceptualizing the ideas and feelings of what I want to create, I got stuck on putting a name to it as I didn’t want to name it after myself.

I spent my time daydreaming about my days in Japan. I remember my friends, fishing with my brother, the ships, my dad’s uniform, our last name carefully stitched on the upper left chest and how it had to be spelt out.

Mike, Alpha, November, and then I remembered that in the phonetic alphabet, the code word for ‘J’ is Juliet.
